The President of Ain Shams University witnesses the closing ceremony of the activities of the Child University

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, witnessed the closing ceremony of the activities of the Child University, the fourth and fifth stages, which were organized by Ain Shams University during the period from February 5-17, 2022, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar, Dean of the Faculty Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board of Directors, and Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector, Prof. Dr. Tamer Al-Nadi, Director of Grants and Projects Department at the university, Dr. Noha Al-Rafei, Coordinator of the Child University at Ain Shams University and Deputy Director of the Grants and Projects Department at the university, and Dr. Rana Al-Rifai, representative of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.

In his speech during the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, thanked the Academy of Scientific Research headed by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Sakr for the fruitful cooperation with the university. He also thanked all members of the work team who contributed to the success of the activities of the Child University at Ain Shams University, pointing out that the program that was developed and implemented at Ain Shams University for the University of the Child, was carefully prepared to achieve the intended goal, which coincides with the vision of the Academy of Scientific Research based on the project.

         
   
         

He added that during the current two phases, 160 children were hosted, and the university seeks to increase the numbers during the next phases, while offering a more diverse and rich program.

He concluded his speech by addressing the children to express his happiness with their presence in the university campus and that the university is waiting for them to join its various faculties in the future.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, addressed a speech to parents, praising their role in enrolling their children at the Child University to benefit from the mid-year vacation period while expanding children’s perceptions and working on their intellectual development.

He also directed a speech to the children asking them to transfer their experience at the Child University to their friends, urging them to join the Child University because of its distinctive role in the development of children who are the future generation.

         
   
         

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the university, thanked the president of the university for the support provided to the Child University, stressing that the progress of societies begins with caring for children.

He added that the idea of ​​the Child University may contribute to coming up with new ideas that can be exploited and developed to develop the country as a whole, so any development in any subject starts with the basic sciences.

Dr. Rana Refai, Deputy Executive Director of the Child University at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, began her speech by thanking all the success partners from all universities, especially Ain Shams University, which provided an integrated program for the Child University in line with the vision of the Academy of Scientific Research.

She also introduced the Child University, pointing out that it is an educational project that began in Europe and is currently spreading all over the world, with the aim of promoting interest in children as they are the nucleus of the future and the basis for development.

She added that the Child University initiative accepts children from the age of 9-14 years, to get acquainted closely with all the different educational fields in universities, and the curriculum is developed and implemented by university professors, and is currently applied in most Egyptian universities and so far the university has registered 16 thousand students.

   
   

The celebration activities included handing over certificates to children, and taking memorial photos with the president of the university and the attendees. The children presented a number of songs that were admired by the audience.

It is noteworthy that the activities of the Child University at Ain Shams University were coordinated by Dr. Noha Al-Refai, the Coordinator of the Child University at Ain Shams University and the Deputy Director of the Grants and Projects Department, the Department based on Organization and Coordination, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Sakr, President of the Academy of Scientific and Technological Research, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector at Ain Shams University, Dr. Noha Al-Rafei, Coordinator of the Child University at Ain Shams University and Deputy Director of the scholarships and Projects Department, and Dr. Gina Elfeki, Executive Director of the Program.

The activities of the Child University at Ain Shams University witnessed the children's visit to a number of faculties, where the deans received them. A full program of activities and events was implemented in the various faculties of the university, organized by the coordinators of the Child University program in the faculties.
