The 10th International Conference of the Egyptian Urological Research Association kicks off with the participation of 450 doctors

The activities of the Tenth International Conference, organized by the Egyptian Society for Urological Research, kicked off in a hotel in Cairo, and will be held over three days.

The conference was opened by Prof. Dr. Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health Affairs, Prof. Dr. Rafik Al-Halabi, Professor of Urology and President of the Egyptian Urological Association, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shalaby, Professor of Urology and President of the Conference, and Prof. Dr. Sherif Murad, founder and secretary of the association and conference rapporteur.

         
   
         

The opening was witnessed by Prof. Dr. Saleh Hashem, former President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Alaa Al-Ghunaimi, Consultant Pediatric Surgeon at the University of Paris in France and Ain Shams Medicine, and the attendance from abroad Prof. Dr. Helmut Madersbacher, renowned Professor of Urology in Austria and President of the International Society of Urological Neurology, Prof. Dr. Toufan Tarshan, Professor of Urology, Istanbul University, Prof. Dr. Ervin Kocjancic from the United States of America, Prof. Dr. Amr Emara from England and a group of professors and specialists from various Egyptian universities, police hospitals and the armed forces, with the participation of America, France, England, Austria and Turkey.

Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health Affairs, said that Corona crisis showed the importance of having guidelines for all medical specialties, adding that the Corona epidemic made doctors gain new experiences and were able to deal with various cases.

He explained that the state is putting all its capabilities and capabilities to address this epidemic, with the support of the political leadership and the government, within the framework of integration between all health institutions in Egypt, and within a distinguished medical-clinical scientific system.

Dr. Rafik El-Halabi, Professor of Urology and Reproductive Surgery at Ain Shams University and President of the Society, stated that the Society has many future goals that primarily concern young surgeons and representatives in this specialty from various Egyptian universities.

Dr. Muhammad Shalaby, Professor of Urology and Conference Chairman, said that the guideline was issued after more than a year of successive meetings and discussions between senior doctors in the field in its various branches, with the support of the Supreme Council of Universities, adding, “What we have presented to young doctors is a constitution of practice for the specialty of urology. And how to deal with cases, and it will be updated periodically in line with global medical trends.”

He pointed out that there are global guidelines in the field of urology, but some of them are not suitable for the Egyptian patient or the health facilities that provide medical services in various governorates, especially since many surgeries abroad have become dependent on the use of the "robot" while the matter still needs more Time to work in Egypt.

He also explained that the nature of urinary tract diseases is different in Egypt from abroad due to climatic conditions, and the spread of kidney diseases, pointing out that there are some cases of stones among children from the age of 6 months.

Dr. Sherif Murad, Professor of Urology and Genital Surgery at Ain Shams University, Rapporteur of the Board of Directors for the Guidelines for Urology, Secretary of the Assembly and General Rapporteur of the Conference confirmed that the conference will discuss the latest scientific methods in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases of urology and genital surgery. He stressed that the association was established specifically to discuss new research related to the urinary tract, activate scientific research and encourage doctors to carry out new research related to the urinary tract. It affects more than 50% of women, and the conference will discuss the latest methods of using a laparoscope to eradicate tumors that affect the kidneys and urinary system. Prostate by endoscopic or laser, and there will also be other workshops for the treatment of involuntary urination in different ways and another workshop to restructure the urinary system, such as urethral plastic surgery, kidney pelvic surgery, repair of urinary fistula and lacerations resulting from accidents.

Prof. Dr. Sherif Murad pointed out that the issuance of these guides is very important for the specialization, and they are a reference for all urologists from various hospitals affiliated with universities at the governorate level.

Dr. Sherif Murad said that these guides are a reference to everything related to the specialty in terms of diagnosis and modern treatment methods, whether surgical or using the latest technologies, stressing that the doctor can determine the best methods according to these guides and the capabilities of each hospital.

He stressed that the Egyptian guidelines took into account all aspects related to Egyptian culture and society in terms of religion, especially in a delicate and important specialty such as urology.

Prof. Dr. Ayman Rashid, Professor of Urology, Andrology and Infertility, said that the Egyptian Society for Urological Research, in cooperation with the Supreme Council of University Hospitals and the Egyptian Medical Association, is the first Egyptian guideline for the treatment of urological diseases, as it is one of the delicate and important specialties in the field of medicine.

   
   

He explained that urological diseases include prostate diseases in men, problems of urinary disorders in women that affect their lives, and the methods that have proven successful.

Prof. Dr. Ayman Rashid pointed out that the conference will discuss the latest scientific methods in diagnosing and treating various diseases of the urology and genitourinary tract.

At the closing of the opening session, Prof. Dr. Rafeeq Al-Halabi and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shalaby and Prof. Dr. Sherif Murad received a certificate of appreciation and the shield of the conference, Prof. Dr. Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic, for his efforts in the health sector. A group of professors received the conference shields.
