Ain Shams University continues its awareness campaigns in various fields

In continuation of the educational role played by Ain Shams University, headed and sponsored by Prof. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, continues the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector at the University, headed by Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President of the University for Sector Affairs, in implementing his annual program of awareness campaigns, which aims to spread health, cultural, social and behavioral awareness in various fields to educate members of the outside community surrounding the university, under the supervision of Prof. Suhail Hamza, Assistant Secretary of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Sector Affairs.

Where the Model Educational Center in the administration of Ain Shams witnessed two awareness seminars on how parents deal with students of intellectual education, attended by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Khattab, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts, Head of the Department of Psychology, and Dr. Eman Alaa El-Din Ismail, teacher of psychiatry and disabilities at the Graduate School of Childhood.

In the presence of Mr. Suhail Hamza, Secretary of Ain Shams University, Assistant for Community Service and Environmental Development Sector Affairs, and a. Tarek Amer, General Manager of Environmental Projects, and a group of officials in the Ain Shams Educational Administration.

The two symposiums dealt with many axes, including the importance of accepting the child with special needs, preparing the mother psychologically to receive the child with disabilities, and the role of the family in raising the child with a sound upbringing.

The various diseases expected to occur for children with Down syndrome were reviewed, the necessity of periodic examination of the child and periodic analysis, the importance of listening to the child's complaint and teaching him ways to express his needs and not underestimating his complaint.

It also highlighted many problems that may fall into them, such as the practice of behavioral perversions, especially sexual perversions against children with special needs, and how to avoid them, and to teach the child his rights and privacy.

The most important therapeutic methods in evaluating children’s behavior were mentioned, such as: talk therapy or story therapy, art therapy, play therapy and psychodrama therapy as one of the best treatment methods for children with determination, and raising parents’ awareness of how to use these means with their children as a way of life while fully accepting their children.

The role of the Center for Children with Special Needs at Ain Shams University, the medical and awareness role, and the importance of family counseling sessions for all family members of children with special needs were reviewed.

The two symposiums, which witnessed a huge turnout from families of intellectual education children, concluded by answering many questions about health problems, drug treatments and how to modify the wrong behavior of children with special needs.

The awareness campaigns come within the framework of the university’s societal and awareness role, which is one of the community institutions that play an active role in serving the goals of sustainable development and Egypt’s Vision 2030 through the various programs it implements in serving the university’s internal and external community.

Ain Shams University is keen to activate the awareness campaigns program, with the participation of university professors in various disciplines in eight departments at the level of Cairo Governorate: (Waili Department, Nozha Department, Heliopolis Department, Ain Shams Department, Olive Department, East Nasr City Department, Assembly Department, Heliopolis Department dome gardens).
