Memorandum of Understanding between the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Ain Shams University and the 10,000 People Japanese Organization

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Mr. Omura Yoshifumi, Head of JICA Office in Egypt, and Prof. Dr. Hazem Rashid, Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Mr. Minami Shinnosuke, President of the Japanese non-profit organization 10,000 people, a tripartite memorandum of understanding between the Faculty of Education, JICA and the organization, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Magid Said, PhD researcher at the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University, founder of the Global Komenkan Initiative, representative of the Japanese Embassy in Cairo, professors of Ain Shams University, representatives of the Japanese non-profit organization and representatives from the JICA office in Egypt via video conference.

The memorandum aims to spread and sustain the Komenkan model in Egypt through the establishment of educational activities in various fields to enrich, develop and develop skills, in connection with the needs of local communities in Egypt.

It is worth noting that the concept of "Komenkan" began in Japan after World War II and its goal is to achieve development through social learning and the exchange of experiences and skills among citizens. Through community activities, 10,000 people meeting association is responsible for running the Komenkan Hantagawa Center and the association promotes sustainable development in the community by promoting local culture, planning intergenerational activities and promoting issue resolution through local human resource activities such as reviving local soybean cultivation and its use in primary school classrooms, resulting in the building of a joint unit that fosters pride with local seniors serving as teachers.

The center has been awarded the Asahi Nobi Education Award in 2013 and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Science Award and the Community Center Award twice in 2010 and 2019, 2019, as well as a Global Kominkan Special Award in 2019.
