Ain Shams Specialized Hospital announces the start of the work of the Lung Transplant Preparation Clinic for the first time in Egypt

Ain Shams Specialized Hospital announced the start of the work of the lung transplant preparation clinic for the first time in Egypt, which is the stage that precedes lung transplantation, with Japanese Saudi-Egyptian cooperation.

The cases will be received at the clinic in the presence of the doctors of the lung transplantation committee on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 1 pm, in the outpatient clinics to discuss the cases, and later the preparatory clinic days will be announced periodically.

It is worth mentioning that lung transplant surgery is a surgery that is resorted to due to respiratory failure resulting from many diseases, where the damaged lung cannot continue its function, which exposes the patient to intensive treatment with his need for home oxygen or death, God forbid.

This advanced surgery aims to transplant two pulmonary lobes from different donors instead of the patient’s damaged lung, and the donor can continue his normal life by 95% after three weeks, such as playing sports or having children.
