Ain Shams University Board celebrates the university's achievements during the last period

In a historic session of the Ain Shams University Board, headed by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, a number of the university’s achievements were celebrated during the last period, including the announcement by the QS World Universities Ranking that Ain Shams University ranked 301-500 in the graduate classification and employment reputation for the year 2022, making Ain Shams the only Egyptian public university that achieved that the distinguished position among the top 500 universities in the world is guaranteed by the classification.

The celebration was witnessed by Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, members of the University Board, and a number of former university presidents and deputies, who had a prominent role over the years prior to the university's attainment of this success, including Prof. Dr. Awad Tag El-Din, Former University President and Adviser to the President of the Republic for Health Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hussein Essa, former university president, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Zaki Badr, former university president, Prof. Abdel Wahab Ezzat, The former university president, Prof. Dr. Nazmi Abdel Hamid, former Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Abdel Nasser Sengab, former Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-Husseini Al-Toukhi, former Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ali Abdel Aziz, former Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Prof. Dr. Fathy El-Sharqawy, former Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdul Kawi Khalifa, Emeritus Professor at the Department of Irrigation and Hydraulics, Faculty of Engineering and former Minister of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Prof. Dr. Yasser Suleiman, former Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Rania Salah, Professor at the College of Medicine, Dr. Ahmed Al-Banna, Director of the International Classification Department, and Professor Abdel-Khalek Rabie, Secretary General of the University.

Dr. Ashwin Fernandez, Regional Executive Director for North Africa, the Middle East and Asia for the QS World University Ranking Corporation, and Dr. Ashour Al-Omari, President of the General Authority for Adult Education, participated via video conference technology.

The university also celebrated during the session winning 4 prizes in the competition of the Ministry of Higher Education for public universities, where the university was chosen, headed by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, as the best university in preparing for the new academic year and facing the Corona pandemic, the university was also able to obtain the award for the best university in applied research related to industry and won the second place as the best university on the website and the third place as the best environmentally friendly university.

The council also celebrated Ain Shams University's winning of the UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy 2021, for organizing online literacy classes for rural areas in Egypt.

Also the celebration of the university's obtaining 5 stars in the global assessment Qs Star, and the faculties of pharmacy and medicine receiving five stars in the same classification, so that the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University is the only Egyptian Faculty of Medicine to obtain this assessment.

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini thanked the successive university administrations that were keen to place Ain Shams University among the ranks of universities with international ratings since 2013 until now, pointing out that the university advanced 100 centers in one year in the Shanghai classification and the Qs classification.

On the sidelines of the celebration, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini congratulated Prof. Dr. Ahmed Zaki Badr for joining the Council of Ain Shams University, and he also honored Prof. Dr. Abdel-Kawy Khalifa for what he did during his 10-year membership in the council.
