Prof. Dr. Abdul Fattah Saoud awards financial prizes to 21 male and female students for their research excellence

Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Education and Student Affairs, attended the presentation ceremony of the fourth-level students’ graduation projects from the Biotechnology Program at the Faculty of Science, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ragaa, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Refaat, former Dean and Professor of Zoology, Prof. Dr. Ali Abdel-Aal, Biotechnology Program Coordinator, Prof. Dr. Wael Samir, a professor in the Department of Microbiology, and a group of faculty professors and students.

During the ceremony Prof. Dr. Abdul Fattah Saoud praised the level of students, stressing that the first batch of this distinguished program will have its weight, especially with the labor market's need for this specialization, and he also praised the efforts of the college administration and the professors in charge of the program.

In his speech, he recommended the students to return the favor to the homeland, which provided them with all means to reach this distinguished level, and not to succumb to temptations to start their working lives outside the homeland, but rather direct their energies to serve Egypt so that they show their distinction in a society that is most in need of their specialization. He also asked them to show a spirit of cooperation and apply the culture of teamwork because they are the way to success, continuity and the best results.

He cautioned that the challenges that they may face should strive to overcome them and not rush the results, but the certainty that those who are serious are found and that making the effort must be crowned with success in the end. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ragaa indicated that the first batch of the biotechnology program consists of 21 male and female students, and that the number of students enrolled in the program is constantly increasing, as the number of students enrolled in the academic year 2020-2021 is 115 male and female students.

Commenting on the five submitted projects, Prof. Dr. Abdul Fattah Saoud that the university pays all attention and does not hesitate to provide any requirements or needs that facilitate students to implement their projects and research ideas, and also directed the need to communicate with the University’s Innovation and Project Support Center (I hub), in order to benefit from their research projects and put them on the right path for practical application and employ them to serve the needs of society.

         
   
         

He also alerted them to the need to take into account the economic feasibility and to think in a way that combines scientific and economic aspects to achieve the maximum possible benefit from any research project.

The specialization (biotechnology) or biotechnology is one of the modern sciences that combines biology and technology, and this specialization is one of the prominent and required disciplines in many industrial fields as well as the fields of medicine, agriculture, food and the pharmaceutical industry.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Rajaa Al-Sutuhi, Dean of the Faculty of Science, on the authority of Prof. Dr. Abdel-Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, provided a grant from the sector to the students of the fourth-level batch of the biotechnology program, which numbered 21 students, and financial prizes totaling 31,500 pounds, equivalent to 1,500 pounds for each student; This is in appreciation of the students' superior level and in support of their scientific career, and as a contribution from the education sector and students in enabling them to transform their research projects into practical application on the ground.

And this value is the highest value offered to one student as an appreciation financial award granted by the education sector and students to the outstanding and distinguished children of the university.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Raja, announced the sponsorship of Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Professor of Orthopedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University and Vice President of the University, with the expenses of the second level for the student who ranked “first” on the first level batch of the biotechnology program, amounting to 20 thousand pounds from his personal account, as well as refunding the expenses for the “first” student on a payment the fourth level of the biotechnology program, amounting to 20 thousand pounds from his personal account, provided that this decision is activated annually, in appreciation of the scientific excellence of students and encouragement for them.
