A specialized workshop entitled "Astrolabe: The Heavens in the Hand's fist" was held at the Center for Papyrus and Engravings at Ain Shams University under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab Ezzat, President of the University and Prof. Dr. Nazmi Abdul Hamid, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Director of the Center, Mrs. Noha Salem and supervision of Mr. Suhail Hamza, Assistant Secretary General for Community Service and Environmental Development.
Dr. Flora Favia of the University of Paris lectured at the workshop whose activities included explaining and teaching the researchers how to manufacture astrolabe to follow the movement of stars and planets and how to use it in astronomical sciences in the same way that the early Muslims were working attended the workshop.
A large number of Masters and PhD researchers attended the workshop and those interested in various faculties of the university who expressed their desire to hold more workshops in the same subject and other astronomy sciences.
