The Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University organizes Thursday February 18, 2020 a convoy to eradicate illiteracy in the El-Moski neighborhood to Al-Ruwaie School, where the activities of the convoy are launched in cooperation with the Presidency of Al-Musky District and the Egyptian Clothing Bank under auspices of Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Mostafa Morteza, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, supervised by Prof. Rasha Al-Didi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dean Majid Ahmed Al-Sayed, President of Al-Moski District, in cooperation with the Literacy and Adult Education Unit of the College headed by Dr. Muhammad Kasim, the Egyptian Clothing Bank, the International Sama Training Company, and the presidency of the Mousky neighborhood in Cairo.
Prof. Dr. Mustafa Mortada, Dean of the Faculty stated that organizing such development convoys in the field of literacy is one of the most important activities undertaken by the college through the community service and environmental development sector represented by the Literacy and Adult Education Unit, in cooperation with civil society organizations and localities in managing Al-Moski neighborhood, headed by Brigadier Majid Al-Sayed, to provide material and moral support and to identify the needs of the people of the different region in order to achieve the desired integration between the university, especially the Faculty of Arts, and the neighboring neighborhoods.
Prof. Mortada explained that the caravan came in implementation of the initiative of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, in concerting all societal efforts to contribute to literacy and building a better society and also in implementation of the directives of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, as a continuation of the university's efforts to extend a helping hand in order to raise value Science, as it has always been a pioneer in the advancement of society, as well as being added to the achievements of the community service and environmental development sector at the university headed by Prof. Dr. Hsham Temraz, Vice President of the University.
Prof. Dr. Rasha Al-Didi added that this convoy comes in implementation of the university's strategic plan related to community service and environmental development, which reflects the interest of all officials, including faculty members and the administrative apparatus, in the implementation of the initiative of the President of the Republic to achieve a decent life for citizens, the first of which is to confront the problem of illiteracy to raise the quality of citizens' lives. The uneducated and support the efforts of the students participating in the literacy project with the necessary tools, and some in-kind assistance from the donors, especially the Egyptian Clothing Bank and the International Sama Company for Training, Consulting and Information Technology, as well as the Egyptian Clothing Bank donated 200 blankets to be distributed to the needy to face the harsh cold conditions they are going through. Sama International for Training donated 120 files containing all the office supplies needed by students in the literacy program in the region.
