The war on Gaza between international law and the Israeli interior affairs in an analytical studio at the Middle East Research Center

Within the framework of the 2023-2024 cultural season of the Middle East Research and Future Studies Center, and under the patronage of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors. The Center held an event entitled “The Analytical Studio for the War on Gaza,” in which Dr. Hatem Al-Abd, Director of the Center, Dr. Ahmed Fouad, expert in Israeli studies and professor of the Hebrew language, and Ambassador Youssef Zadeh, former ambassador and consul of Egypt in New York.

The event was opened by Dr. Hatem Al-Abd, who welcomed the distinguished guests. Then he touched on the pioneering role of the Center and the mission it carries out, which necessitated holding this event to explain some of the legal and political aspects of that heinous war.

His Excellency Ambassador Yousef Zada stressed that this war is considered illegal and unjust from the perspective of international law, because it lacks all the conditions stipulated by the law, which confirms the falsehood of Israel’s claims that it is a war of self-defense, and the most important of these conditions is the principle Proportionality between action and reaction; We are not witnessing a war between two equal armies, but rather a war between an army and a defenseless people, including women, children and the elderly, which in fact makes it closer to genocide. This is in addition to the constitutional and natural right of the people of occupied Palestine to defend their lands and strive to liberate them from their usurpers, as His Excellency addressed. Some of the reasons why Hamas chose the 7th of October to launch its attack, as it is a religious and official holiday, which gave it the opportunity to exploit the element of surprise, which indicates its inspiration from the Egyptian strategic plans in the 6th of October War.

This was followed by a speech by Dr. Ahmed Fouad, who reviewed some features of Israeli internal affairs, especially the Israeli army, as it is characterized by corruption, disarray, and its members’ lack of affiliation with the Israeli state due to its reliance primarily on many mercenary gangs. As for Israeli society, it suffers from fragmentation and division between supporters and opponents of government policies, as the people began to feel that Netanyahu represents a danger to the State of Israel as a result of his dictatorial and repressive policies, his security and military failure, and the intelligence and information breakthroughs that led to the October 7 attack.

All speakers praised the great and effective Egyptian role in managing the crisis, as President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi issued strongly worded and decisive statements condemning the Israeli attacks on the Palestinian people and calling on the international community to move quickly in order to stop these daily attacks and massacres, in addition to forcing the Israeli side to agree to pass humanitarian aid to the Palestinian side through the Rafah crossing, as well as receiving the injured and injured in Egyptian hospitals. They also praised Egypt’s position in rejecting the deportation of Palestinians to Sinai, which will lead to the elimination and liquidation of the Palestinian cause and the loss of the people’s right to recover their lands, which is the real goal behind the war. On Gaza.

The lecturers were keen to answer all attendees’ inquiries.

At the end of the event, Dr. Hatem Al-Abd presented certificates of honor to the guests in appreciation of their outstanding efforts and fruitful participation in the
