Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, opened the activities of the university’s “Career Week 2023” in its second edition, which is organized by the Career Center, in the presence of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister of Higher Education for Strategic Planning, Training and Qualification for the Labor Market, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Employment Center, Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector, Prof. Reem Al-Kabariti, Director of the Alumni Association, and a number of deans, vice deans, and center directors.

During his speech, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, thanked Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, for the transitional period during which she assumed the duties of President of Ain Shams University. He praised the role of the Employment Center, which deepens the spirit of belonging between the student and his university, as it provides him with training and job opportunities, which makes him feel that the university did not only provide him with academic experiences, but also supported him with practical experiences to build his future.

The President of Ain Shams University stressed that the Employment Center must ensure continuous feedback from various employment companies to bridge the gap between the university and the labor market, by updating some curricula to prepare students for the labor market, and developing their skills through various training courses.

Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, began her speech by offering congratulations to Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen on assuming the presidency of the university, wishing him success and prosperity. She also thanked all those in charge of the Employment Week, which represents an episode within a series of activities provided by it. The Vice President of the University praised the long list of partners, which includes a large number of companies, industries and factories, stressing the need to strengthen these partnerships so that the university becomes the technical arm of the industry, providing technical support and qualified graduates for the labor market, and the partners contribute to developing training and foundation programs for students through an integrated system.

In his speech, Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister of Higher Education for strategic planning, training and qualification for the labor market, conveyed the congratulations of the Minister of Higher Education to Dr. Mohamed Diaa, the new president of Ain Shams University, stressing that Ain Shams University occupies a distinguished position in the field of employment. Dr. Ayman Farid explained that the first employment center that was established in a government university was the employment center at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University in 2012, and the success of the experiment was the basis for the development agency USAID to finance another new center at Ain Shams University, then in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and in line with Its 2030 strategy has now established other centers in government universities, bringing the number to 46 centers nationwide.

He added that in 2020, Ain Shams University established the employment center with its new look, thanking Prof. Mahmoud El-Metini, former university president, for what he and his deputies provided to make the center reach what it is.

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Employment Center, explained that a large number of companies and institutions are participating in the event, which continues over the days of November 4, 5, and 6, pointing out that the first day, corresponding to Saturday, November 4, has been allocated to students and graduates of the faculties of engineering and computers. The second day is for the Faculty of Commerce, and the third and final day is for students and graduates of the Faculties of Al-Alsun, Arts, Law and Education.

The Director of the Career Center indicated that more than 35 of the largest international companies in the labor market are participating in the event to provide training and employment opportunities for students and graduates of Ain Shams University. There are many activities within the event such as career talks and guidance counseling circles that help students and graduates in making peaceful decisions towards their career path.

It is noteworthy that during the opening activities, the Employment Center presented the Center’s shield to Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen to congratulate him on assuming the presidency of the university.
