The Chairman of the General Organization for Export and Import Control gives a lecture at the Faculty of Law

The Center of Legal and Economic Studies at the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University, organized a symposium on “Laws Regulating the Import and Export Processes,” as part of the activities of a series of seminars shedding light on new legislation, which aims to introduce new legislation in various fields.

Prof. Mohamed Safi, Dean of the Faculty, opened the symposium, welcoming the attendees, and offering sincere thanks and appreciation to Major General Dr. Essam Al-Nagar, Chairman of the General Organization for Export and Import Control, for the presence of His Excellency and the delegation accompanying him to the Faculty of Law to shed light on this important topic. All segments of society, and requires further explanation and clarification.

The Dean of the Faculty thanked Prof. Sally Samir Fahmy Abdel Masih, Assistant Professor of Economics and Public Finance at the Faculty and Director of the Center, and Counselor Soha Al-Saadani for their efforts in organizing such seminars that enhance the applied aspect of legal studies.

Then the Dean of the Faculty transferred the speech to Major General Dr. Essam Al-Nagar, who began his speech with an introduction to the Egyptian Export and Import Control Authority, its basic mission in protecting the Egyptian consumer and increasing Egyptian exports, and the laws regulating the work of the Authority starting with Law No. 118 of 1975 and its executive regulations until Resolution No. 102 of the year 2022 regarding standard specifications, then Mr. Amr Hussein spoke about export, the exporter’s register, cases of delisting exporters, penalties, and the most important practical problems facing the law.

Then Mr. Ahmed Nabil spoke about the Importers Law No. 7 of 2017, the Importers’ Register and registration conditions. Then the floor moved to Mr. Ehab Al-Banna, who spoke about the Commercial Agents and Real Estate Brokers Law No. 120 of 1982 and its amendments until Law No. 21 of 2022.

Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Shafi’i, Professor of Economics and Public Finance and Vice Dean for Student Education Affairs, spoke about the trade balance and the reasons for its steady deficit, and His Excellency presented proposals to remedy this, the most important of which is activating international agreements that reduce customs tariffs on Egyptian exports abroad, especially agreements with Arab and African countries and the European Union. Paying attention to increasing the added value of Egyptian exports and working to encourage foreign direct investment in goods exported abroad.

The Dean of the Faculty concluded the symposium by presenting the Faculty’s shield to Major General Dr. Essam Al-Nagar, Chairman of the Egyptian General Organization for Export and Import Control, and offering thanks and appreciation to the delegation accompanying His Excellency, and Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Shafi’i.

The symposium was attended by a number of faculty staff and their assistants at the faculty, as well as a group of researchers, interested parties, and students.
