A cooperation agreement between the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University and the Pablo de Olapeda University in Seville, Spain

With the authorization of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, former President of the University, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Prof. Francisco Oliba Plazquez, the President of the Spanish University of Pablo de Olapida signed a partnership agreement for doctoral dissertations, under the umbrella of concluding foreign partnerships with corresponding educational institutions with a distinguished international reputation, with the aim of enhancing academic, technical and research activities at the international level, which leads to raising the efficiency of the quality of educational service and scientific research at the two universities.

Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, explained that the signing of this agreement comes within the framework of the interest of the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University in partnership agreements with various universities in the world, as the college is interested in international partnerships to improve the competitive position of the college and the university, as well as improving its ranking in the international classifications that come within the framework of The National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

She pointed out the importance of this type of agreement for Ain Shams University and the Faculty of Al-Alsun, as Her Excellency explained that the Faculty of Al-Alsun includes fifteen departments of languages, and eight new study programs with a credit hour system in written and interpretation translation, specialized translation, and translation technology.

They are all considered requirements of the labor market. There are also two international programs at the college at the master’s level in cooperation with the University of Salamanca in Spain in Spanish language and culture, and another in specialized translation in cooperation with the University of Leipzig in Germany. Therefore, the new partnership in the doctoral stage is the third program at the faculty level within the framework of international partnerships.

It is worth noting that the agreement is not limited to the specializations of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, but rather to other specializations at the university in the field of humanities and social sciences in general.

For his part, the Spanish university president highlighted the importance of expanding the academic relationship between the two universities and thus internationalizing it. In this regard, His Excellency stressed that this agreement contributes to confirming the importance of the role of the World Intellectual Property Organization within the framework of North African countries, and expressed his desire for the relationship between the two entities to continue to expand in the future.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Vice President of the Pablo de Olapide University for International Relations, Prof. David Naranjo Gil, and the agreement coordinators: Prof. Hala Abdel Salam Awad, Professor in the Department of Spanish Language, from Ain Shams University, Prof. Juan Manuel Cortes Copete, Director of the Doctoral School, from the Spanish University, Prof. Saad Mohamed Hilal, Head of the Department of Arab and Islamic Studies.
