The celebration of the accreditation of the plant protection program at the Faculty of Agriculture

Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting President of Ain Shams University, opened the annual plant protection department conference for the academic year 2022/2023, which was held on the sidelines of the opening of a special celebration on the occasion of the faculty’s plant protection program obtaining accreditation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance of Education and Accreditation with the approval of its Board of Directors No. 228) dated 8/30/2023 and in its letter sent on 9/4/2023, which is the second accredited program and the first accredited program for the Faculty of Agriculture, at Ain Shams University, and the only one at the level of universities in the Republic.

         
   
         

This came in the presence of Prof. Ahmed Galal, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, at Ain Shams University, Prof. Hisham Mohsen Al-Hariri, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Walaa Abdel Ghani, former Vice Dean of the Faculty for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Mahmoud Abdel Samie, Head of the Plant Protection Department, and a group of faculty staff, teaching assistants, administrative staff, and technicians in the laboratories.

Prof. Ahmed Galal, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, praised the importance of the plant protection program, which is one of the most important branches of agriculture and is concerned with the specializations of insects, plant diseases, and pesticides, as it achieves integration between knowledge and concepts in biological and environmental sciences and focuses on cultural, natural, biological, and chemical concepts to find the best feasible and environmentally and economically appropriate control methods.

         
   
         

Prof. Mahmoud Abdel Samie, Head of the Plant Protection Department, pointed out that the department was established in 1942 and was distinguished by the presence of great cadres and scientists throughout its history. Some of them held the position of University President and Vice President of many Egyptian universities, and Dean and Vice Dean of the Faculties of Agriculture and scientific and research institutes nationwide. Some of them established faculties of agriculture and plant protection departments in many universities inside and outside Egypt, and some of them held the position of head of the Agricultural Research Center and other important positions in governmental or private institutions inside and outside Egypt.

Praising the efforts of the standards coordinators from the Departments of Plant Protection and Diseases, the Program Board of Directors from the two departments, and the colleagues who prepared the department’s course files, numbering 37 courses taught in the department at the bachelor’s level until we reached the forefront of plant protection programs at the level of agricultural colleges in Egyptian universities, and this department emerged in a decent and honorable image for the faculty and university.

         
   
         

Prof. Mahmoud Abdel Samie, Head of the Plant Protection Department, expressed his thanks and appreciation to Prof. Ahmed Galal, Dean of the Faculty and supervisor of the department and its development and modernization previously, and Prof. Ahmed Bunduq, Head of the Department of Plant Pathology at the Faculty, and to my professors and fellow employees of the Department of Plant Pathology, including faculty staff, members of the teaching assistants, administrative staff, technicians, and department workers, for their great efforts in this joint achievement.

At the end of the celebration, shields were distributed to the attendees on the honorable podium.
