"The Role of Youth in Confronting Climate Change"... A symposium at the Faculty of Al-Alsun

The Community Service Affairs and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, at Ain Shams University, organized a symposium entitled "The Role of Youth in Confronting Climate Change", as part of the activities of the Cultural Environment Week, under the auspices of Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, and supervised by Prof. Youmna Safwat, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, in the presence of Prof. Abdel-Gawad Abu Kab, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Media and Digital Transformation Foundation and founder of Rosa Al-Youssef Gate, and Dr. Lamia Mahmoud, representative of the Arab Union for Tourism Media, where the symposium was moderated by Professor. Atef Bahjat, member of the Environment Committee.

   
   
During the symposium, Prof. Abdel-Gawad Abu Kab discussed the dangers of climate change, especially the risks of flooding coastal cities, with an emphasis on the measures taken by the state to confront such risks in order to preserve the environment.

 

And he continued his speech, pointing out that a large part of the price hike is due to the lack of foodstuffs in the world, indicating that we are a country facing desertification due to climate changes and water scarcity.

He pointed out that the effects of climate change are terrifying, as human behavior on the ground has caused climate changes, stressing that environmental culture is the first step that the youth class must take, especially since 60% of the population of the Arab world is under the age of 30.

While Dr. Lamia Mahmoud, representative of the Arab Union for Tourism Media, addressed the concept of green tourism and a sustainable environment, considering it one of the most important issues sponsored by the Egyptian state, noting that the tourism diversity that the Egyptian state enjoys and the different touristic habitats and diverse cultures along its land require us to contribute to the development of The environmental protection system and its application in tourist places, as well as how to invite tourists around the world in their different languages to attract them to visit those tourist spots that characterize the Egyptian state.
