"Zero Carbon Campus"... A workshop at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Ain Shams University, ASU-iHub

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research within the efforts and vision of Ain Shams University towards green transformation, under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, and each of the prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, at Ain Shams University. A workshop was held within the framework of a research project entitled "Zero Carbon Campus" at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Ain Shams University (ASU-iHub).

         
   
         

On the Egyptian side, the project is managed by Prof. Mostafa Refaat Ismail, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Universities, principal investigator, and leader of the research team, which focuses on reducing the carbon footprint and transforming the university campus towards zero carbon emissions. In the presence of each of Prof. Najwa Badr, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information Sciences, Prof. Amr Shaat, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Akram Farouk, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Diaa Khalil, general supervisor of the activities of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Prof. Muhammad Al-Buhairi, Director of the Creativity Center, Dr. Weam Mahmoud Mahmoud, Deputy Director of the Creativity Center, Prof. Ahmed Atef, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Management at the Canadian Higher Institute, Vince Amiri, President of the University of Hertfordshire in the new administrative capital, and a number of guests from the academic community, industry representatives, researchers, postgraduate students, and those interested in environmental issues and green transition.

The workshop began with a group of keynote speakers from the university and industry, followed by a series of discussion sessions to develop a framework for reducing carbon emissions on campus. The activities also witnessed honoring the winning teams of the international competition to design a zero-carbon campus.

The workshop is on of the activities of the Net Zero Carbon Campus (NZCC):  a UK – Egypt Higher Education partnership for climate change funded by the British Council. The workshop was organized under the supervision of Prof. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, through the research team that includes Prof. Walid Al-Khatam, Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, at the Faculty of Engineering, at Ain Shams University, Dr. Hussein Farid, a teacher in the Department of Architecture, at the Faculty of Engineering, at Ain Shams University, Dr. Fatma Fathi, Lecturer in the Department of Architecture, at the Faculty of Engineering, at Ain Shams University, Eng. Mohamed Anwar, Assistant Lecturer, Department of Electrical Engineering, at the Faculty of Engineering, at Ain Shams University, Eng.
