The Vice President of Ain Shams University and the German delegation of Philips Marburg inaugurate the first digitization laboratory at the Faculty of Archeology

Prof. Mohamed Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Hossam Tantawy, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology, and Prof. Mamdouh El-Damaty, former Minister of Antiquities, Sašo Podlesnik, Ambassador of the State of Slovenia to the Arab Republic of Egypt, and a delegation from the German University of Philips-Marburg, Dr. Albert Voss, Director of the Joint Master's Program and Head of the Center for Near and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Marburg; And the digitization laboratory at the Faculty of Archeology, which contains the latest scanner that was donated by the German University of Philips-Marburg to Ain Shams University within the framework of the agreement signed between the two sides, as the laboratory is the first of its kind in Egyptian universities and scans rare copies of books.

This came after a visit by the delegation to the headquarters of the Saffron Palace, in the presence of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Hossam Tantawy, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology and Prof. Mamdouh El-Damaty, former Minister of Antiquities and former Dean of the Faculty of Archeology, and Prof. Ahmed Al-Shawky, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Archeology for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Abdel-Razek Al-Najjar, Professor at the Department of Archeology and Excavations, and Dr. Hassan Obaid and Prof. Mahmoud Haroun, and Prof. Mattia Strels, Director of the European Institute for Heritage Sciences, representing the University of Ljubljana, to prepare for joint cooperation between Egypt represented by Ain Shams University, Germany represented by the University of Marburg, and Slovenia represented by the University of Ljubljana.

Within the framework of the visit, the delegation was received at the Faculty of Law, in the presence of Prof. Muhammad Safi, Dean of the Faculty, where the terms of the agreement signed between the two sides were discussed and reviewed last April, and the final agreement to establish a Joint Master's Degree in Archeology (DPEH) was ratified. The visit included an inspection of the restoration laboratory at the Faculty of Archeology and a review of an explanatory explanation of some rare manuscripts.
