The President of Ain Shams University honors "Sahar" family, the first case of lung transplantation from a living donor

Yesterday, Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, received the family of the first case of lung transplantation from a living donor, where he received them at the Networking and Information Technology Center at the university, in the presence of Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the University's Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board of Directors, Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals, Prof. Walid Anwar Abdel Mohsen, Director of Ain Shams Specialized Hospital, Prof. Hesham Anwar, Deputy Director of Ain Shams Specialized Hospital, members of the medical team, a group of faculty members, and the family of the heroine, Sahar.

         
   
         

During the meeting, Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini expressed appreciation and respect to the family of "Sahar" and the donors, stressing that the meeting is sad because the case died despite the positive aspects of the meeting, wishing mercy and forgiveness to "Sahar" and praising her courage and persistence, which inspired many people around her. They insisted on saving their sisters.

The President of Ain Shams University indicated that this family has restored family values, principles and ties, and thanked them for that on behalf of Ain Shams University and on behalf of the lung transplantation team and the Ain Shams Specialized Hospital team.

He added that "Sahar" had opened the door of hope to many patients and expressed his keenness to check periodically on the health and condition of the two donors, the siblings of the case, and that this case had a great impact on the large waiting list. In Egypt, and that the lung transplantation program has started in a large way, and this is the role of Egypt, which is always proactive.

         
   
         

Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini urged that the lung transplantation program be developed by the team of Prof. Ali Al-Anwar and his team. For his part, Prof. Al-Anwar ensured that "Sahar" family will be medically sponsored by providing medical support and health care for them through Ain Shams Specialized Hospital.

At the end of the meeting, the family of the case was honored and awarded certificates of appreciation.

It is worth noting that a lung transplant was performed from a living donor for the case "Sahar", which is the first operation in the Middle East to transplant a lung from living donors with the participation of 50 doctors and work for 14 hours continuously using 3 operating rooms at Ain Shams Specialized Hospital at the university, and the case died after The relative success of the patient for a period of 3 weeks, her separation from the cardiopulmonary perfusion devices and the partial ventilators, and her full interaction with everyone and the start of the physical rehabilitation program to help move and walk, but a sudden deterioration occurred, which occurs in such cases by 30%.
