The conclusion of the activities of the second phase of the training of students of the Faculty of Engineering within the cooperation protocol between the Drinking Water Authority and the Water Research Center of Excellence

The Center of Excellence for Water Research, in coordination and cooperation with the Regulatory Authority for Drinking Water, Sanitation and Consumer Protection, trained 17 students from Rabaa Irrigation and Rabaa Public Works in practice in water and sewage plants, to acquaint students with the applied aspects and the origins of the industry to meet the requirements of the labor market in this important field, for 30 training hours, a period of one week, which comes within the framework of the cooperation protocol between the Regulatory Authority for Drinking Water and Wastewater and the Water Research Center of Excellence, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University and Prof. Dr. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University.

In the presence of Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing for Infrastructure Affairs and a member of the Board of Directors of the Center, Dr. Mohamed Hassan Mostafa, CEO of the Agency for Regulating Drinking Water, Sanitation and Consumer Protection, Dr. Amr Abdel Salam, Vice Dean of the College of Engineering for Graduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Hoda Sousse, Director of the College's Water Research Center of Excellence, Dr. Yahya Kamal, Head of Irrigation and Hydraulics Department at the Faculty, a group of faculty staff, and honored students. Certificates of appreciation were handed over to students who successfully passed the training course.

Dr. Sayed Ismail explained that the second phase of the training program, which is one of the human development tools required during this period, reflects the interest of the drinking water and sanitation facilities sector in practical training, and emphasizes the activation of the provisions of the protocol, which comes within the sector's vision to support the field of scientific research. And the participation of specialized Egyptian universities in discussing some issues of drinking water and sanitation.

Dr. Sayed Ismail referred to what the state achieved during the first phase of the presidential initiative, a decent life, to develop the Egyptian countryside, and it is considered one of the most important projects in Egypt at present, and it aims to serve 60 million citizens in Egyptian villages in various fields of services and facilities, as about 80% of the target for villages has been accomplished. It is targeting the neediest villages as a first stage, explaining that the state has developed a strategic plan for the desalination of seawater in Egypt until 2050, with a total capacity of 8.85 million m3 / day in 11 coastal governorates nationwide.

The Deputy Minister of Housing sent a message to the students of the Faculty of Engineering, urging them to strive in acquiring knowledge, and to exert more effort in training, to raise their efficiency and qualify them for the labor market, stressing that job opportunities are available for engineers in all disciplines and that success is always achieved by teamwork, not individual work.

Dr. Mohamed Hassan, CEO of the Drinking Water, Wastewater and Consumer Protection Regulatory Authority, explained that a cooperation protocol had previously been signed between the regulatory body and the Water Research Center of Excellence, to train students of the Faculty of Engineering in the sites of drinking water, desalination, and sewage treatment plants, and to inform students of the practical application. within those stations.

Dr. Amr Abdel Salam, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Graduate Studies and Research, praised what has been achieved in the drinking water and sanitation sector during the past few years, stressing his keenness to enhance the role of scientific research and its intertwining with the practical side of the students of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University.

And Prof. Dr. Hoda Sousse, Director of the Center, indicated in her speech that the second phase of the training program for undergraduate students in the Irrigation, Hydraulics, and Public Works departments was the starting point for cooperation between the two departments this year in introducing a new graduation project. It is a project to "design a desalination plant for water in remote places" based on the state's interest in adding water desalination as a primary source for the coastal governorates, and based on the accumulation of experiences for practical training students, to serve the needs of the faculty curricula, and in accordance with the state's strategic plan, emphasizing the importance of the role of scientific research to serve the community.

Also, Eng. Ahmed Negm from Dar Al-Maya Company presented job opportunities in the field of water engineering in the Egyptian market and answered students' questions about ways to qualify them for the labor market through academic study and important practical training, as well as developing personal skills.
