Be green… A symposium in the Faculty of Education

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hazem Rashid, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Alaa El Din Abdel Halim, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr. Safaa Shehata, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and in support of the “Be Prepared for Green” initiative, the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the Faculty of Education organized a symposium on "Moringa... the miracle tree" in light of the direction of the university and Faculty administration to switch to green adopted by the political leadership, which is in line with the outcomes and pillars of the COP 27 climate conference in encouraging the expansion of tree planting, especially those with economic benefits and returns, and which have a promising medical return.

         
   
         

The seminar was opened by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Salam, Chairman of the Department of Geography and Geographical Information Systems, welcomed the lecturer, Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Khalil Ezzo, a professor in the Department of Horticultural Crops Technology at the National Research Center and media advisor to the Egyptian Scientific Society of Moringa at the center and guests from the National Research Center who specialize in this field of agriculture, thanked the Faculty’s management and support for the “Be Prepared for Green” initiative. The Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs welcomed the distinguished guests of the Faculty.

He expressed his happiness with the students' keenness to attend, as well as the faculty members from all departments of the college, and the extent of the importance of these seminars in encouraging the green transformation, and its reflection on the students' culture, both environmentally and economically.

This symposium comes under the general supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Salam Hussein, Head of the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the Faculty of Education, with coordination and follow-up by Dr. Nabil Youssef and Dr. Amal Mahmoud, faculty members of the Department of Geography, and in the presence of a group of faculty members at the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University, and a distinguished presence for college students.

     
 
     

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Ezzo explained and analyzed the "Moringa tree", which was found in the ancient Egyptian papyri and inscriptions dating back thousands of years. Moringa is characterized by containing a variety of amino acids, proteins, vitamins, minerals, as well as antioxidants that contribute effectively to the treatment of Many diseases are maintaining health. There are many types of the Moringa family, the most famous of which is the Moringa Oleifera tree.

The Moringa tree is suitable for cultivation in all types of soil and is tolerant of salinity up to 2500 ppm, drought tolerant and economical in water use.

His Excellency explained that Moringa has several benefits in treating stomach disorders, maintaining nerve health, preventing osteoporosis because it contains a high percentage of calcium, as well as alleviating arthritis.

It also helps to lose weight through Moringa tea, which helps control blood sugar and burn calories.

His Excellency stressed that among the benefits of Moringa is also maintaining the health and freshness of the skin and hair growth through multiple Moringa products, as well as useful in improving the general health and vitality of men, as well as its importance in generating more milk rich in vitamins for nursing mothers.

Moringa has many benefits for children, and it has many products such as moringa oil, tea, moringa powder and capsules as nutritional supplements that contain multiple ingredients beneficial to the body.

There are many areas of investment in Moringa, where it is possible to expand the use of its waste as fodder for fattening, and it is very effective in this field, as well as in beekeeping, honey production, dairy farms, poultry, rabbits and the oil industry, as well as various Moringa products for humans as previously mentioned.

In an atmosphere of active participation, His Excellency received a set of questions from the audience, faculty members and many students, and he thankfully responded to these inquiries and questions in a practical way so that everyone can benefit from this miracle tree.

At the end of the seminar, Prof. Dr. Essam Zaki, professor at the Desert Research Center, stressed the importance of investing in the Moringa tree, which has great economic benefits and returns, which can generate billions of dollars for the state, solve the fodder crisis, and the green transformation adopted by the state, which achieves the mission of the college and university in community service and sustainable development for the community.
