Photojournalism…A workshop for the great photographer Adel Mubarez in the Department of Communication and Media Sciences at the Faculty of Arts

The Department of Communication and Media Sciences, Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University, organized a workshop entitled: "Arts of Photojournalism", under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Mortada, Dean of the College, and the workshop was hosted by the great photojournalist, Adel Mubarez.

Prof. Dr. Dina Farouk Abu Zeid, Head of the Department of Communication and Media Sciences, said that the symposium aims to introduce students to the technical skills and controls that must be available in a photojournalist, such as wit, how to use the image in describing the event, in addition to the artistic touch and professional and ethical honesty.

The great photojournalist, Adel Mubarez, pointed to a set of precautions that the photojournalist should avoid, on top of which is avoiding penetrating the personal life, especially of celebrities. He also discussed the challenges facing photojournalism in light of social networking sites and citizen journalism. Topics impartially and from a comprehensive point of view.

He reviewed the most important pictures he took during his working life, and explained the most important technical and aesthetic components and the scenes of taking these pictures.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Dina Farouk Abu Zeid, Head of the Media Department at the Faculty of Arts, gifted the department’s shield to the distinguished photojournalist, Adel Mubarez, in honor of him for his contributions and creativity in enriching the journalistic and media field.
