Cooperation between the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research and the National Youth Council Foundation for the rehabilitation of Al-Duwaiqa neighborhood

Within the framework of the national efforts of the new republic to organize and host the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change COP 27 in Sharm El Sheikh, and based on the pioneering role of Ain Shams University locally and in Africa, the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research at Ain Shams University organized a meeting with the National Youth Council Foundation, which is A civil society organization affiliated with the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

The meeting was aimed at deliberating on aspects of joint cooperation in the issue of climate change and the efforts made by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research, Ain Shams University in the issue of mitigating carbon emissions, spreading environmental awareness and rehabilitating slums such as Al-Duwaiqa neighborhood, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Noha Samir, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research.

Prof. Dr. Noha Samir said that the presentation aims to spread the practices of waste recycling and surface cultivation to reduce the carbon footprint in the region. She also indicated that environmental adaptation is one of the important issues, stressing the importance of supporting all initiatives working in this direction, and stressing the need to shed light on environmental practices. sound in all governorates of the Republic, where Egypt is working hard in this field.

Her Excellency has made it clear that the faculty has several training, awareness and education programs, and several agreements are being signed on the Ain Shams University road towards the COP27 conference.

Dr. Dalilah Mokhtar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Youth Council Foundation, referred to the pioneering role of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research, Ain Shams University, academically and research in the environmental fields, especially climate change. Her Excellency expressed the unique experience of women's management of institutions in the country, pointing to the distinguished experience of transforming the Environment Institute into a Faculty and excellence in launching scientific, research and applied programs on the ground.

She praised the efforts of the Dean of the Faculty in the Faculty’s societal role by launching various environmental awareness campaigns. Dr. Wael Tanahi, Secretary-General of the National Youth Council, indicated his happiness in cooperating in launching the “Al-Duwaiqa” campaign and integrating the project of the Street Board of Directors, which the Foundation is working on in cooperation with the ministries and executive bodies in the country.

He stressed the importance of integrating academic and research scientific institutions into general development work and the application of scientific research on the ground. His Excellency declared scientific, academic and research cooperation in addition to the fields of environmental training.

It was pointed out by A. Mohamed Shaheen, Coordinator of the Faculty’s Road Committee, stressed the importance of networking and unifying national efforts to highlight the image of the Arab Republic of Egypt on a global scale in its ability to participate, organize and host major international conferences, stressing that Egyptian youth have the ability to implement several initiatives related to climate change with global efficiency, pointing out the willingness to Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research, Ain Shams University in sponsoring these initiatives and contributing to their implementation on the ground.

The two parties have agreed to sign a joint cooperation protocol with the Faculty that includes several training, research, societal and scientific fields.
