The Fifth Course of the Training Program for the Qualification of Climate Ambassadors at the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research

Under the patronage of the Minister of Environment, Dr. Yasmine Fouad, and Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research is holding the fifth session of the training program for the qualification of climate ambassadors, starting from Saturday, March 12, 2022, and ending on Wednesday, March 22, 2022 online, in cooperation with The Voluntary Team Foundation for Humanitarian Action is part of the activities of the Million Youth Volunteer Initiative for Climate Adaptation, which the Faculty participated in establishing, and it is one of the programs and outputs of the “Be Prepared for Green” initiative under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.

Prof. Dr. Noha Samir Donia, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research and Head of the Climate Ambassadors Program, said that the Faculty offers this program to mobilize the efforts of African and Egyptian students and researchers to build bridges of climate knowledge with the community in preparation for Egypt’s organization of the COP27 Conference of Parties, and the Faculty’s belief that spreading climate awareness is the beginning of the road to plans Sustainable development and the achievement of Egypt's 2030 vision, there will be no comprehensive development without taking proactive measures to confront climate changes that have become an obstacle to development.

Dr. Mustafa El-Sherbiny, the ambassador of the European Climate Charter and the head of the initiative added that the training program for the qualification of climate ambassadors is the program with the leading scientific content in Africa and the Middle East, which has become the most widespread in the world after it became the official program of the Association of African Universities, which includes 500 African universities in 52 African countries.

It is worth mentioning that the first training course for Africans has been completed, in which 300 African university students and postgraduate researchers participated.
