Ain Shams University participates in the conclusion of the Global Forum on Higher Education and Scientific Research (GFHS)

The activities of the Global Forum on Higher Education and Scientific Research (GFHS), organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, under the patronage and honor of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, concluded from 8-10 December in the New Administrative Capital.

Ain Shams University participated in the forum with a distinguished pavilion under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Service Affairs Community and Environmental Development, and the General Supervisor of the Ain Shams University Pavilion in the Forum, Prof. Mona Abdel Aal, Director of the University Education Development Department.

On the second day of the forum, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, participated in a panel discussion entitled “Multidisciplinary: A Necessity for the Future” headed by Ms. Samantha Miles from Florida Atlantic University, in the presence of the international surgeon Dr. Magdi Yacoub, founder of the Magdi Yacoub Heart Center, where he talked about the challenges facing medical specialties, and the importance of having interdisciplinary specialties. Dr. Magdi Yacoub also spoke at the same session, who touched on the issue of the overlapping of different disciplines, and the emergence of interdisciplinary specializations, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research, and several faculties’ deans and vice-deans.

It is noteworthy that the forum witnessed the participation of a number of prestigious international universities and international bodies and organizations, the most important of which are: George Washington Universities, Harvard, Arizona State, Virginia, Chapman, Boston International Institute in the United States of America, Sapienza University in Rome, Italy, the Royal College of Surgeons in the United Kingdom, and Lincoln University In England, the University of Sibiu in Romania, the Universities of Quebec and Windsor in Canada, and the University of Potsdam in Germany, in addition to a number of international organizations and bodies, namely: UNESCO, ISESCO, the World Bank, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Magna Charta, and Coursera for skill and capacity building, As well as the global publisher Elsevier, Knowledge E.

Over the three days, the forum dealt with many themes, the most important of which are the future of work, preparing and qualifying students and young researchers for future jobs, the needs of the local and international labor markets considering the repercussions of the Corona pandemic, and the rapid changes in employment skills and demand on the labor market.

The forum also included the establishment of a series of events and activities, in the form of meetings, seminars, workshops, panel discussions, and scientific lectures by experts from academics, professionals, representatives of international organizations, businessmen and youth, in addition to an exhibition that includes many pavilions for participants from various public universities. Private and international companies, technology companies specializing in education and scientific research, international organizations, and funding agencies.
