The Faculty of Archeology hosts Dr. Carl Greaves, Director of Egypt Exploration Society

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr. Mamdouh El-Damaty, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology, the Faculty of Archeology held a lecture on the Egypt Exploration Society, where Dr. Carl Greaves, the current director of the Egypt Exploration Society, visited the Faculty of Archeology, Ain Shams University, and was received by Prof. Mamdouh El-Damaty, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Hossam Tantawy, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Ahmed El-Shouki, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Ali Abdel Halim, Head of the Archeology Department Ancient Egyptian, faculty and support staff, graduate and undergraduate students, researchers and some guests from outside the faculty.

Dr. Carl Greaves presented a lecture in English about this association since its inception until now, as well as the vision and mission of this association and its various activities in the field of antiquities and scientific research, where the "Egypt Exploration Society" is one of the oldest supporting and working institutions in the field of antiquities in Egypt. It was founded in 1882 in England and established an office for it in Egypt, based in the British Council in Agouza, Giza. This association has many activities in the field of antiquities, whether in the field of excavations, research projects or its scientific publications from books and magazines specialized in the field of ancient Egyptian antiquities.

His Excellency reviewed the pioneers who presided over this association of prominent archaeologists, led by the most famous archaeologist, Flinders Petrie, who made the largest and most important discoveries in Egypt in the previous two centuries. He was also accompanied by Ms. Charlotte Jordan, Director of Liaison, and Dr. Essam Nagy, Director of Field Work in the Society. After this lecture, Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Al-Damaty commented on the lecture and opened the field for questions to the attendees, including faculty students from its various departments and researchers, and it was a rich discussion.
