The 16th International Conference om Psychiatry at Ain Shams University confirms the importance of telemedicine in light of the Corona pandemic

The Sixteenth International Conference on Psychiatry and the 4th International Conference on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry stressed the importance of social media and telemedicine in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as interest in developing community awareness of mental health and intensifying attention to children, adolescents and the elderly and providing psychological services to them. The conference, which was organized by the Department of Neuroscience and Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University and a cooperating center with the International Psychiatric Association for psychological research and training in cooperation with Okasha Psychiatric Center, was launched from September 21 to 23 under the title "Integrating science in psychiatry from For better results for patients, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the university, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Okasha, founder of the Psychiatric Center, with the participation of a group of professors from inside and outside Egypt.

         
   
         
   

The conference was distinguished by the integration of social media with direct attendance. The conference activities began with a series of workshops on September 21 through social media, then the conference sessions continued with direct attendance on September 22 and 23.

During the conference, several important topics were discussed, such as psychological problems and Covid-19, and the Egyptian research that was carried out on the spread of Covid-19 virus, cultural issues in psychiatry, forensic issues and suicide, especially in children and adolescents, the role of remote psychiatric services, and providing updates on various mental illness treatments.
