"Black fungus…Causes and prevention methods" Symposium at the Faculty of Nursing

The Crisis and Disasters Unit at the Faculty of Nursing, Ain Shams University, affiliated to the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, organized a symposium entitled "Black Fungus ... Causes and Methods of Prevention" under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President of the University, and Prof. Sahar Musa, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Dr. Hayam Tantawi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and under the supervision of Prof. M. Dr. Rania Abdel Hamid Zaki, Director of the Crisis and Disaster Unit at the faculty.

The symposium was held for both faculty and staff members of the faculty, and was presented electronically.

The symposium was attended by Dr. Arzak Muhammad Khalifa, and Dr. Eman Al-Hwait, lecturer of internal and surgical nursing at the faculty, which included a full explanation of the definition of black fungus disease and that it is a rare fungal infection that affects people with low immunity who suffer from it or from other chronic diseases such as diabetes, advanced kidney failure, or Late malignant tumors or as a result of heavy cortisone use.

During the symposium, its causes and symptoms were presented, most notably high temperature, pain in the nose and eyes, severe headache, then blockage of one side of the nose, with an unpleasant smell in the nose noticed by those around the patient and not the patient himself, bleeding in the digestive system, blood in stool and loss of blood. Awareness, nerve pain, clots, and diarrhea, and some complications such as blindness may occur, in addition to explaining the ways to treat it?

The symposium included a presentation of the different types of vaccines circulating against the Corona virus, the importance of these vaccinations, and what are the complications that occur in the event of non-compliance with vaccination.

The symposium also recommended the need to adhere to precautionary measures and avoid sources of infection, and the importance of circulating the symposium to all faculties at Ain Shams University.
