Ain Shams University has succeeded in the WEBOMATRIC for TRANSPARENT RANKING Top Universities by Google Scholar Citations to be ranked second after Cairo University in the ranking of Egyptian public universities.
Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab Ezzat said that this achievement comes within the framework of the State's strategy to improve the classification of Egyptian universities, thus contributing to its development on the global map. He pointed out that the achievement of this achievement coincides with the 2019 announcement of the year of education in the Egyptian state.
He added that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, headed by Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdul Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, attaches great importance to raising the classification of Egyptian universities in general and the government especially at the international level, through the implementation of clear strategies and implementation of comprehensive visions in this regard, which is the integration of state institutions as a whole in achieving this goal, Through training courses and workshops in cooperation with the graduate studies and research sector to stimulate the faculty members and the supporting body to publish their scientific research and the inclusion of journals and periodicals on scientific research sites such as Scopus and others.
Prof. Dr. Abdul Nasser Sengab, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research explained that the classification of Webometrics is a Spanish classification and is one of the most important classifications in which scientific institutions are evaluated. In 2016 the classification criteria were amended to include: the number of sites bearing the name of the university of colleges, institutes, centers and the like, the number of external references to the university site and what follows, along with the contents of the files and the richness of information, and finally the number of scientific citations according to Google Scholar site Which calculates the number of scientific research attributed to the correct proportions of the university and the value of enrichment and the number of scientific citations in other research, and accordingly the classification issued copies of the ranking of universities according to the laboratories of scientific references and scientific citations to the site of scientific citations Google Scholar.
Prof. Dr. Abdul Nasser Sengab praised the efforts of the members of the faculty and the supporting body and the staff in charge of updating the site of the university and colleges and institutes and periodic follow-up of IT units.
Prof. Dr. Abdul Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Students Affairs and Supervisor of the International Classification of the University, said that the results showed a rapid development of Ain Shams University in the last 4 copies during the period from January 2017 to January 2019, Cairo University - American University in Cairo - Ain Shams University) to be the fourth on the Egyptian universities in general and the second on the public universities in particular, increasing the number of citations from the previous year by 100%, where the number of research citations 44733 in January 2019 compared to 22157 in the version July 2017, with an improvement approaching 25% in four previous issues.
He stressed that this progress is a continuation of the success of the university in the areas of international classification, which has become a major criterion for the selection of students and their preferences for a university on the other, as well as a basic criterion for organizations when choosing universities to rely on them to conduct research and feasibility studies necessary to accomplish their work.
