The Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University won the second place at the level of the university's Facultys in the Student Participation in Literacy Project (January 2021 session), under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Hisham Temraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Mortada, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, supervised by Prof. Dr. Rasha Al-Didi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and the implementation of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kasim, Head of the Literacy Unit at the Faculty.
The project relies on integrating Ain Shams University students into the university’s initiative to eradicate illiteracy within the activities of the community service and environmental development sector to solve the problems of the Egyptian society, chief among them the illiteracy crisis and its consequences in cooperation with the executive body for adult education in accordance with the protocol signed between the university and the General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education headed by Dr. Ashour Al-Amri, as it is required for the student to obtain a graduation certificate, literacy education, with a minimum of 4 individuals during the four academic years.
Students of the Faculty of Arts contributed to literacy education for 1614 individuals in the January 2021 session.
It is worth noting that Ain Shams University won first place for two consecutive rounds in the literacy project at the level of Egyptian universities, as the total number of individuals whose illiteracy was eradicated reached 7,955 individuals.
