July 25 ... An awareness symposium on the national project for plasma derivatives entitled "Our medicine by Our hands"

Within the framework of the cultural season of Ain Shams University, the university organizes an awareness symposium on "The National Project for Plasma Derivatives and its Importance to Support the Health System in Egypt" under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, in coordination with Prof. Gehan Ragab, Advisor to the Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and administrative supervision of Mr. Ibrahim Saeed, Assistant Secretary General of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.

The symposium hosted Maj. Gen. Magdy Amin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grifolls Egypt, and Dr. Medhat Al-Adl, doctor, writer, poet, and screenwriter, and the honorable Sheikh Dr. Ramadan Abdel Moez, the great scholar, at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, on Tuesday, July 25, at 1 pm, in the Al-Mahlawi Auditorium, Faculty of Medicine.

The national project for plasma derivatives aims to manufacture important medicines used to treat more than 80 chronic and serious diseases and provide them locally for every patient in Egypt.

Plasma is the main source for the manufacture and provision of these drugs, and it is one of the components of blood, a transparent yellow liquid that represents 55% of human blood, and water represents more than 90% of the components of plasma, in addition to proteins, salts, and other components.

As for plasma derivatives, they are medicines that are manufactured from blood plasma and are essential to the lives of thousands of patients and are used to treat more than 80 chronic and serious diseases.

It is worth noting that the body replaces the plasma after the plasma donation process within 24 to 48 hours

If the person age is between 18 to 60 years, and his weight is 50 kilos or more, and does not suffer from chronic or serious diseases, and enjoy good health, then he is initially eligible to undergo a medical examination and laboratory analyzes that confirm the possibility of donating plasma safely.
