The Faculty of Archeology organizes the Wooden Heritage Conference in Egypt and Sudan: “Challenges and Prospects” next September
The Faculty of Archeology, Ain Shams University, in cooperation with the French Scientific Institute of Oriental Archeology, Cairo University, Alcala de Henares University in Spain, and the Fitzwilliam Museum at Cambridge University is organizing the International Conference “Wooden Heritage in Egypt and Sudan: Challenges and Prospects”, from 26 to 28 September 2022 at the headquarters of the French Scientific Institute of Archeology Eastern Cairo, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Eldamaty, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology, Ain Shams University. Dr. Ahmed Al-Shoki, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Archeology for Graduate Studies and Research.
The conference brings together specialists in archaeological timber studies from different countries of the world. The topics of the conference vary in:
History of wood carving, wood through different eras in Egypt and Sudan, archaeological studies of archaeological wood, protocols for conservation and restoration of antique wood in museums, wood submerged in water, architectural wood and challenges of preserving wood antiquities at archaeological sites in Egypt and Sudan.
